clockThe 2009 Writer-in-Residence is the celebrated author and playwright, Stella Duffy, whose most recent book The Room of Lost Things won the Stonewall Prize.  Stella will be involved in a number of events over the first weekend of the Festival, including the Grand Opening and Prize Giving Ceremony on Friday, 25 September. She will also conduct a one-day Writer’s Workshop on Saturday, 26 September between 10.30am and 4pm and we are able to offer a limited number of tickets at the specially discounted price of £25. Havant Literary Festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with a superb programme of events dedicated to his life and work, including talks and an exhibition on loan from Portsmouth City Museum – see the Festival Brochure for details.IMG_0312 crp2 190b

And of course, the ten days of the Festival will offer all the usual Festival fare –theatre, signings, children’s events, poetry, talks, street entertainment, art, school’s activities, exhibitions, workshops, walks, film, music, readings, a Book Fair, a Ghost Walk and a debate: ‘This House Believes the Book is Dead’!
